Thinking of converting to Rome?

Think about what you're converting to. From my friend Jim Swan on his blog, a must read on conversion stories

When I go back to Rome it will be a cold day in Hell.

I left there 15 years ago and with it all my shackles and religious projects.

Who in their right mind would go back into that mess?

Hi Steve,

I left about 26 years ago and there is no looking back. The more Scripture I read and the more I look into history, the further from Rome I go. Take that, Newman!! :-)

Peace,
Ray

Greetings, Churchmouse!

Thanks for your insightful musings over at Beggars All. I confess to being also confused regarding the need to insist on Mary's perpetual virginity. The only thing I have been able to come up with over the years is that Romanists see human sexual relations as not really part of God's plan, or at best a necessary evil; that they are somehow sinful or "dirty." And seeing this issue in light of the compulsory chastity teaching of the church's hierarchy, doesn't help any. I don't know, I'm just thinkin'. Otherwise...I got nothin'.

Stop by and see me sometime.

Blessings,

Pilgrimsarbour

Hi Pilgrimsarbour,

Thanks for the kind words, but I'm just the best I can with what God has given me. Yes, I agree. I too wonder what Catholics have to gain by the PV of Mary. All I know is that, to Catholics, it is imperative that Mary had no children, while we Protestants don't care if she did or didn't. The Scriptural implications of the word "until" doesn't rise or fall on the existence of brothers and sisters, but only that Mary's relationship with Joseph evolved into the norm afterwards. No Catholic has ever been clear as to why Mary needs to be celibate after the birth of Christ.

Btw, I did visit your page. Sad to hear about your NY woes, especially since you were in Philly :) And I listened to some of your music. You're a pretty good piano player. I'll listen to a few more tomorrow.

Peace,
Ray

I meant to say, "just doing the best I can do with what God has given me."

Sorry about that.

Peace,
Ray

Thanks EA. And another "thanks" for sifting through the muck and mire offered by our friend over a BeggarsAll. Your pointly comments are very appreciated. Me? I tend to get too wordy. It's a bad habit of mine.

Peace,
Ray

Hi Ray!
Just dropping by to inform you that according to Feedjit, someone from Illinois search for "Churchmouse's Musings" less than hour ago. He ended up finding Tinubos' blog (because I listed yours in my blogroll). He even searched for "Ray Aviles" within my blog. I guess he's a big fan of yours just like me.

Grace and peace
Tinubos
